Winter weather warning and strong wind warning tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather warning for parts of central Minnesota, effective from midnight tonight to 10 a.m. on Thursday-snow cover up to 2 inches and wind gusts up to 60 mph.

Winter weather consultations include Morrison, Millerax, Carneback, Stern, and Benton counties-including St. Cloud, Cascades, Paynesville, Princeton, Mora, Foley, Sartre Cities such as Seoul, Sauk Rapids and Waite Park.

In addition to the winter weather warning, the strong wind warning will continue until 6 AM on Thursday, when we expect wind speeds of 30-40 mph from the west and gusts of up to 60 mph.

Destructive winds can blow down trees and electrical wires. A large-scale blackout is expected. Traveling can be difficult, especially for high-end vehicles.

News from the National Weather Service tonight: People should avoid going out in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, stay on the lower floors of your home during the storm and avoid windows. If you must drive, be careful.
